Depending on the waste type, it is taken to a licenced facility.  For general waste this is a licenced waste transfer station who separate waste materials by hand and machinery.  Clean green waste is taken to a composting facility. Clinical waste is taken to an incinerator, the treated material is then used to create energy from waste. Metal is recycled with larger scrap metal yards. Our shredded paper is taken to one of our larger partners where it is baled and resold to paper mills in the UK to be pulped and become new paper products.

From the moment we start loading the van, we think about segregating the waste streams.  This will increase the recycle rates of the materials we collect.  We are selective in the licence waste transfer stations that we use, ensuring they have a minimum 95% recycle rates, with the aim to or achieving 100% diversion from landfill.

Certain waste types or materials, we can recover metals, paper and cardboard which we recycle 100% inhouse.  Items from bulky waste or decluttering clearances, there may be items that can be donated, fixed or resold.

Roupcycle has (and continues to) reinvest in our fleet of vehicles to ensure they are Euro 6 compliant and continually work on ensuring routes are economical.  For jobs further afield, it may be more beneficial to use a closer verified service provided.  These many small steps have enabled us to reduce our CO2 footprint.

As our geographic coverage has grown, it may not become viable for us to send one of our own vehicles.  The same could be for our commercial or trade customers that have sites and projects around the UK but wish to deal with us as their waste management company.  In these cases it is more economical financially and environmentally to send a verified service collector.  Some of the services we offer such as skip hire and larger wheelie bins, we do not have the infrastructure nor the vehicles.

We do not work with anyone and have a strict vetting process.  We are strict with the high level of service and reliability. Compliance if a top priority, licences and insurance are checked and verified.  All service collectors must issue Roupcycle with their disposal paperwork on completion of any job, so we can ensure a paper trail of waste for our customers.
